"We see a lot of organizations and companies trying to pull people together so we can overcome the hate that happened last year. Unfortunately, that was on a micro level," he said. "On a macro level, I don't still see what has changed since last year on the East Side. The East Side after 5/14 is the same East Side of Buffalo as it was prior to 5/14."Talley joined News 4 on Sunday morning to reflect on this past year."Unfortunately, this is the one-year anniversary. Even saying 'anniversary' kind of seems too strong to say regarding this weekend, but it's the one-year anniversary of the Tops terrorist attack," he said. "It's ...

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:07:35 GMT

After seven days of strikes, the Oakland Unified School District announced it had reached an agreement with the teachers’ union on four “common good” demands — which, until this point, had placed the two sides in a gridlock since the strikes began. For over a week, the district had argued that these demands — which seek to address racial equity, homelessness, and environmental justice for students — fell outside the scope of a union bargaining agreement. But on Saturday night, four of those demands had been agreed upon, relating to: housing and transportation, the community schools grant, the Black thriving community schools initiative, and school closures.“We are still on strike, but momentum is on our side,” tweeted the teachers’ union, the Oakland Education Association, that evening.Related ArticlesEducation | Former Cupertino mayor appointed to high school board Education | Sunnyvale nonprofit awards $3.2 million in clean energy grants Education | ...

CESENA, Italy (AP) — Pre-race favorite Remco Evenepoel won another time trial to move back into the overall lead of the Giro d’Italia on Sunday. In contrast to the opening time trial, however, Evenepoel won by the slightest of margins on stage nine — the longest of the race’s three individual time trials. The Belgian, who rides for Soudal Quick-Step, beat Geraint Thomas by just one second on the almost entirely flat 35-kilometer (22-mile) route from Savignano Sul Rubicone to Cesena near the Adriatic coast. That was enough for Evenepoel to win the stage and take back the leader’s pink jersey. The world champion was 45 seconds ahead of Thomas, who rides for Ineos Grenadiers. Primož Roglič, who is considered Evenepoel’s strongest challenger, was two seconds further back.“I don’t think I paced it very well,” Evenepoel said. “I started too fast and my second part wasn’t that great. I found some better legs in the technical part because I could recover a bit. “I wasn’t feeling to...
