Kiwanis Club of Little Havana hosts 39th Three Kings Day giveaway for underprivileged children A toy tradition returned to the Magic City, just in time for Three Kings Day.The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana handed out presents to underprivileged children at their headquarters, Saturday morning.The event marking the 39th year the club gives hundreds of toys to children.The president of the club, Pablo Lau, said he knows this means a lot to these families.“For many in the community, the Three Kings event is their Christmas. I know that Christmas in the United States is very popular, but for the Hispanic community, the Three Kings mean a lot,” he said, “and it’s another way that we can impact the community, give back and make sure that we put a smile on a needy family’s face.”The tradition celebrates the day the Three Wise Men first saw Baby Jesus and brought him gifts.

Flakes begin to fly as region braces for season’s first major snowstorm (WHDH) — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning ahead of expected heavy snow this weekend and residents in some communities were out making last-minute purchases as the flakes began to fly Saturday night.The storm is expected to continue overnight and through much of the day Sunday before winding down and pulling out of the region. It is forecast to be a largely all-snow event north and west of Route 128, with a mix of rain and snow to the east and south. A flash freeze is then possible Sunday afternoon as temperatures are forecast to plummet. When all is said and done, areas including the South Coast, South Shore, Cape Cod and could receive between 1 and 3 inches of snow. SDSO: Two dead in murder-suicide at apartment complex near El Cajon, victims identified KSWB -- Two people are dead after what police are calling a murder-suicide at an apartment complex in the unincorporated area of El Cajon Saturday afternoon. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department told FOX 5 the incident occurred on the 1600 block of Hilton Head Court around 12:43 p.m. When deputies arrived, two people -- a man and a woman -- were found with gunshot wounds. The victims have been identified as 41-year-old Jose Benjamin Lopez Valle, and his wife, 38-year-old Brenda Valle. SDSO said the woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died, while the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
