DENVER (KDVR) — A controversial bill proposed by Gov. Jared Polis died in the Capitol on the last night of the legislative session after many Democrats said they wouldn't support it.The bill is SB23-213 known as the "Land Use" bill.Polis introduced SB23-213 in March and the bill aimed at giving people more affordable housing options, allowing the development of housing like townhomes and duplexes in Colorado by getting rid of state zoning laws that only allow single-family housing development in most parts of the state. This means certain towns and cities would have to allow denser forms of housing. DENVER (KDVR) — An interactive and traveling exhibition that honored the life and work of Jane Goodall will not open at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. This announcement comes days before the exhibit was expected to debut.In a statement released by the museum on Monday, the "Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Jane Goodall" has been canceled due to damage to exhibition components that were discovered upon arrival at the museum. The traveling installation was created in partnership with the National Geographic Society and the Jane Goodall Institute. The exhibit was expected to open to the public on May 19. Massachusetts lawmakers have announced a new life-saving training to help combat the opioid crisis.Sen. Ed Markey is joining forces with the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. The senator finished training Monday on how to administer Narcan, which can reverse an opioid overdose.Markey says that, with the proper training, anyone can help save someone’s life. “According to the Centers for Disease Control, bystanders were present for more than one in three opioid overdose deaths,” Markey said. “If one of those bystanders is trained and has Narcan on hand, it could be the difference between life and death.” Markey says $450,000 in new federal funding will be used to promote access to supportive services. A fast-moving fire that ripped through a country club in Dartmouth on Sunday is now being investigated as possible arson, officials say. The parents of a BU professor who died after falling through MBTA staircase are pushing for officials to address safety issues within the system. David Jones’ parents attended a Transportation Committee meeting Monday to voice their concerns. The group discussed possible changes to make the T safer, including a proposal to establish a new safety agency to oversee the T.
